HelpMaster v24.10

HelpMaster v24.10 is a feature release of HelpMaster, and continues to extend the functionality of the web portal as we continue to migrate features from the Desktop edition. This version also has general improvements across the entire product suite.

Here’s the highlights.

General improvements

• Further improvements to the web portal to continue to bring features over from the Desktop version
• Extensive refactoring and code optimization for images, graphical objects and “under the hood” memory management

Web Portal Summary

• Alerts for Jobs (similar to clients, assets, sites etc)
• Multi-job select for bulk-actioning of jobs via Action Template
• Copy entity links (multi-select and then copy links) > paste as links into other entities
• Job Action toolbar for Explorer
• Job Action toolbar for Job Screen
• Quick update of closed jobs (similar to Desktop functionality)
• Better keyboard support for selecting, navigating and copy/paste

Attachment Image Magnification

Image attachments can now be quickly magnified by clicking on them. Once magnified, click and drag on the image to pan around. This makes working with large image sizes much easier.

Multi-select and action jobs

The Explorer screen now supports multi-job selection (shift-click + CTRL to select) so that single, or multiple jobs can be actioned via the new Action toolbar. This is similar functionality to the desktop edition, and allows bulk-action operations to occur on a selction of jobs. Each action will be subject to all of the security and workflow constraints that may apply.

Copy/Paste entity linking

Similar to the desktop, you can multi-select entities (jobs, clients, assets, sites etc.) right-click to display a context menu and select copy. Now you can click the links tab on another entity and paste the copied entities as links to form relationships. Easy!

Copy Entity Information

A useful feature with a dual purpose. Click the copy button to copy the details of the entity into the Windows Clipboard. When pasted as text it will display a summary of the entity. When pasted onto the “Links” tab of another HelpMaster entity, it will establish a link/relationship between the 2 entities.

Job Alerts

Job alerts are now fully supported in the web portal, similar to the desktop edition. Clicking on the job alerts toolbar will display the alert.

Update closed jobs and actions of closed jobs

Closed jobs (and actions of closed jobs) can now be edited via the “Edit closed job” toolbar button. This allows some fields on the closed job to be updated/edited without having to completely re-open the job. This is useful for simple classification adjustments, reworking summary/details and other basic information. This feature is subject to a staff members’s job security role. This is similar to the modify closed job functionality in the desktop edition of HelpMaster.

Sample / Demo database

The HelpMaster sample / demo database has new workflow examples, job templates, a public kiosk helpdesk example, client data and more. Use the Database and Reports Wizard to deploy a sample database and check it out. Steal all the good ideas for your service desk today!
