Knowledge Base Settings
Use the Knowledge Base Settings tab to configure settings for the automatically generating Knowledge Base IDs.
Navigation in HelpMaster Desktop
Administration toolbar > Configuration section > System Administration icon > Knowledgebase Options tabKnowledge Base ID
When creating new knowledge base articles, HelpMaster can automatically generate the Knowledge Base ID. This is required field for all Knowledge Base articles.
Choose from the the automatic options, or select None to allow the user to specify their own.
Automatically generated IDs can always be over-written at any time.
Type + Number
This option will generate a knowledge base ID based on the selected Knowledge Base Category followed by the selected separator and an auto-incrementing number. e.g. If the Knowledge Base Category selected is FAQ and the selected separator is a “-” then the resulting Knowledge Base ID would be FAQ-1. The next newly created FAQ category would become FAQ-2 and so on.
Prefixed number
This option will generate a knowledge base ID based on a prefix code followed by an auto-incrementing number. e.g. If the Prefix entered is KBA and the selected separator is a “:” then the resulting Knowledge base ID would be KBA:1. The next newly created Knowledge Base article would become KBA:2 and so on.
None
Selecting none disables auto ID generation and the knowledge base ID must always be manually entered when creating new knowledge base articles.
