Active Directory Profiles Overview

Automation toolbar > Active Directory section > Active Directory Profiles iconThe HelpMaster Active Directory works by processing Active Directory Profiles that must be created. These profiles are a grouping of Active Directory processing logic which contain the all of the information that is required to successfully synchronize your Active Directory or EntraID (v24.7+ only) database with your HelpMaster database according to your business rules.
Each Active Directory (AD) profile consists of the following things:

A profile name: This needs to be unique – two profiles cannot be given the same name

Actions that may be performed. Available choices are:
- Create new clients: Import any or just new users from the selected Windows AD Organizational Units (OUs) or Entra ID groups
- Update existing clients: Update existing HelpMaster client details when synchronized Windows AD or Entra ID user details change
- Remove clients: Remove (delete) HelpMaster clients when synchronized AD or Entra ID users are deleted or moved to a delete OU or group

One or more paths: These are the locations in the Windows AD (OUs) or Entra ID groups where the service will look to create, update, or delete clients. A number of different paths can be associated with a single profile however a minimum of one is required to be able to save the profile

Profile settings: These other setting options perform further processing logic and may or may not appear depending upon the type of profile (AD or EntraID) and Profile Actions selected
There is no limit to the number of Active Directory profiles that you can create. Furthermore, each profile can be arranged in a processing order, as well as being enabled or disabled to provide greater control over how your Windows AD or Entra ID users are processed.
