Job Status Codes
The Job Status code is a mandatory field in every job that is logged. This can be be manually set, or automatically set via an Action Template, an automated process, or via job workflow. Job Status codes are designed to change over time, and when significant events occur to the job, such as being logged, resolved, closed, or put on hold.
There is no limit to the number of job status codes that you can create and apply to jobs.
Job Status codes play an important part of job lifecyle and automation. Use them to mark significant events in the job lifecycle, and then use this data point as the basis for automation, workflow, triggers, reporting metrics, or simply a visual indicator of where the job is at.
It’s important that each member of the helpdesk/service desk/team understands how to use Job Status codes, and what each status means, as well as any potential automation events that will be triggered if a job is placed into such a status.
